ACC Statement Re: Arrests of 19 June 2018

Investigators from the Anti-Corruption Commission, with the assistance of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, arrested two individuals this morning in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Responsible for investigating serious allegations of corruption the Investigators arrested the males, 48 and 57 years old both from the George Town area and both public officials, on suspicion of committing the following offences:

  • Bribery of a Public Officer – contrary to s.10 of the Anti-Corruption Law 2016;
  • Fraud on the Government – contrary to s.11 of the Anti-Corruption Law 2016;
  • Breach of Trust – contrary to s.13 of the Anti-Corruption Law 2016; and
  • False claims by Public Officers – contrary to s.16 of the Anti-Corruption Law 2016.
